Council chief to leave with immediate effect

East Herts Council have announced that Chief Executive Richard Cassidy is to leave the role with immediate effect.

The council issued a press release just after 5pm on Friday afternoon announcing Mr.Cassidy's departure after five years with the local authority.

No reason has been given for move and it is unclear who will take on the role.

After 5 years at the helm of East Herts Council, Richard Cassidy, Chief Executive Officer, has made the decision to leave the council as of 15th September 2024. Richard has had a successful career in local government spanning 40 years, working in senior positions in a range of Councils before joining East Herts in 2019.

Richard said "I have really enjoyed my time working for East Herts, having led the organisation through Covid and during a subsequent period of significant change and delivery for the Council. I have every confidence that they will continue to develop services in the face of the pressures facing local government."

The leader of the council, Councillor Ben Crystall, said "We thank Richard for his service and leadership over the past 5 years, and we wish him every success and happiness for the future."
