Tewinbury Farm acquires town centre nightspots

Monday 6 October 2025

The owners of Tewinbury Farm have acquired two popular bars and a hotel on Hertford's Parliament Square.

The Quiet Man and Hertford House Hotel were put on the market after the previous owners went in to administration.

Tewinbury Farm is owned by the Williams family, who have occupied the farm since 1931. Commenting on the acquisition, they said: "Our family grew up in and around Hertford and has fond memories of spending time at Hertford House. The property is stunning and has so much potential, so to now bring it into the Tewinbury family feels incredibly special.

"Our vision is to bring the farm to Hertford, offering delicious, seasonal food made with local produce from our land. We want people to see where their food comes from and enjoy everything that nature can nurture. Just as importantly, we are committed to keeping The Pub a truly independent pub, a place that remains as special as it is today, with a strong community focus at its core.

"Hertford deserves a pub that locals can call their own and one that visitors to Tewinbury will love too. Our aim is to make the whole site into something the town can be proud of. We are also pleased to have been able to protect the existing team in the sale and to welcome them into the Tewinbury fold."

Tewinbury Farm is a popular event and wedding location, set on a 700-acre working farm, and also features 43 hotel rooms which have been converted from 17th century buildings.

Hertford House Hotel features 28 rooms above the ground floor bar and restaurant. Staff reviously employed at both sites will be retained by the new owners.
