Pub wants to cut down trees
The Duncombe Arms in Railway Street has applied for planning permission to cut down two mature trees in front of the pub.

The application also includes replacement front doors, the removal of bollards, a new pergola, decking and landscaping at the rear.
The removal of the trees has attracted criticism, with a number of objections being lodged on the District Council's planning portal.
One objector wrote: "We should be doing all we can to protect our trees. They allow us to breathe cleaner air. An extension is no reason to get rid of two healthy trees which reduce the pollution in our town. The council has already allowed this to happen in Tesco car park. They need to think of our environment and preserve it so we can all lead healthier lives."
Another said: "I understand that the owners of the establishment may feel that their plans to take these trees down are justifiable but they are not. Perhaps if it was the fact that these trees were dangerous or an issue to public health then maybe there might be a justification but I expect that the tree removals are for other reason (business improvements to aid an increase in revenue)."
Tesco also come under fire recently for removing mature trees from their car park in Ware Road after members of the public tripped.
A final decision will be made by a planning officer in the new year.
