Community Centre Could Be Redeveloped
District Councillors are to meet next week to discuss the future of Pinehurst Community Centre.

The community centre and adjoining shop and flat were built in the late 1970s and are in urgent need of an upgrade, according to a report by Jonathan Geall, Head of Housing and Health.
The council-owned centre urgently requires work to modernise it and replace aging elements such as the heating, fire safety equipment, toilets and kitchen. Over the coming five years, the council’s property team has estimated the cost to be up to £250,000. Work is also required to bring the neighbouring shop up to standard, with estimated costs of £200,000.
The report recommends a council-led redevelopment of the site and provision of 11 flats, 3 of which would be "affordable".
The District Council's Executive Committee will meet on Tuesday to discuss the report's recommendation.
A planning application will have to be submitted and approved by councillors before any work takes place.
