Josh Dean chosen as Labour parliamentary candidate

Tuesday 27 February 2024

Josh Dean has been selected as Labour’s Parliamentary candidate for Hertford and Stortford.

Josh was raised in Hertford and attended local schools. He volunteers with a local young people’s charity, has previously helped organise campaigns opposing rail ticket office closures and to give residents a say on local development.

He lives in the constituency and represents Castle ward on Hertford Town Council.

Speaking after his selection, Josh said, "It’s the honour of my life to be selected as Labour’s candidate in the community where I grew up and where I call home. I've worked in our community, attended our local schools and run successful campaigns. As a local Labour councillor I know the issues facing residents in Hertford and Stortford."

"Our residents deserve better than a government that’s left Britain in decline and an absentee Conservative MP with no  connection to our community. It’s time for change in Hertford and Stortford with a local Labour MP who will work with the next Labour government to deliver for residents in our community and get Britain’s future back."

Josh joins the Lib Dems' Helen Campbell, Green Nick Cox and Reform's John Burmicz in vying to take the constituency at the forthcoming general election.

Electoral Calculus are predicting that Labour are set to unseat local MP Julie Marson at the election.
