The Hummingbird closes ... again

Fore Street bar and restaurant The Hummingbird has closed down for the second time in five years.

The gastropub held a £35-a-head closing down party on Saturday 29th June, featuring an open bar, canapes and live entertainment.

The pub was voted a national winner in the Good Food Guide awards as best gastropub in Hertfordshire for three years  running and has a rating of 4.5 on Tripadvisor.

However, the most recent post on Tripadvisor appears to be from a disheartened staff member lamenting their experienc of the company.

Another post on Facebook from a customer who booked their wedding reception in September at the restaurant claim they have heard nothing from the operators, despite paying for the booking.

The Hummingbird was owned and operated by THBGP Ltd, which was wound up on 7th April 2024 and a liquidator appointed. 

The restaurant previously closed down in similar circumstances in September 2019, after owners the Epic Pub Company went into administration.

A new eatery is expected to open in the premises in the coming weeks.
